A prolongation of the PTT-LA clotting time should not immediately be interpreted as being due to the presence of LA in the test plasma, since causes other than LA can also produce such a prolongation, and these other causes must be ruled out with further testing before LA can truly be identified. Thus, among the causes that need to be ruled out are the following:
-dysfibrinogenemia
-presence of heparin
-intrinsic pathway factor deficiencies
-presence of factor inhibitors...
The PTT-LA induces a prolongation of the APTT in the following cases :
-congenital deficiencies in coagulation factors presence of circulating anticoagulants
-hepatic disorders
